Improved Security with Video Cameras at Intersections in Puerto Vallarta
email this pageprint this pageemail usVallarta Opina/PVNN

Puerto Vallarta's urban video surveillance system will be monitored by officers from the Public Security, Transit and Fire Department.
Last weekend, city employees started the installation of the new surveillance equipment at major intersections around Puerto Vallarta. This project includes 48 video cameras in several locations of the city to provide enhanced security to local residents and visitors.

The project began at the end of last year with the necessary underground cable installation. Completion is expected in March 2009 when all cameras will begin to operate.

For the past several months we have witnessed the work throughout the city with of workers installing the necessary 30 meter poles that will house the video cameras. These video poles are very similar to the light poles already installed but these new video poles metallic gray and have ladders on both sides for the maintenance of the equipment.

A new surveillance office will be built in order to receive the images transmitted by these video cameras. This new location will be built near the Public Security Direction Offices in Las Juntas, Jalisco.

Local authorities believe that this new measure will provide better security to the local inhabitants of the city and also to the thousands of visitors that come to our beloved city all year round, since they are, after all, the main income source of the city and surrounding areas.
