Transportation Secretary Luis Tellez
Mexico City - A Mexican Cabinet official caught on tape accusing a former president of pilfering government funds says he has received a letter threatening to reveal other recordings unless he resigns.

The office of Transportation Secretary Luis Tellez says the message urged him to "resign before your life is converted into a scandal."

A statement from the office says Tellez reported the threat to federal prosecutors on Tuesday.

Tellez was heard accusing former President Carlos Salinas of stealing money from a secret government fund in a 2006 recording leaked to local news media last week.

Tellez says he regrets making the accusations because he has no evidence of corruption during the 1988-1994 Salinas presidency.
