Pacific Coast Cruises Coming to Vallarta PVNN
| Puerto Vallarta's newly renovated and expanded Maritime Terminal can simultaneously accommodate three full-size cruise ships. (PromoVision) | | Puerto Vallarta is the third most popular cruise destination in Mexico, and the newly renovated Maritime Terminal has greatly enhance the development of tourism in this beautiful resort town since its completion in 2007.
Two hundred and forty cruise ships docked in Puerto Vallarta in 2007, bringing over 540,000 passengers to the destination, but soon Mexicans, foreign residents and visitors will be able to hop on board a first-class ocean liner in Puerto Vallarta and cruise up and down the Pacific Coast.
Beginning May 10, Pullmantur's Pacific Dream will set out from Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta for eight-day cruises stopping in Ixtapa-Zihuatenejo, Manzanillo, Los Cabos and either Puerto Vallarta or Acapulco (depending on the point of departure.)
According to Pullmantur Director Eduardo Barroso, "The 47,000 ton vessel will operate 50 weeks out of the year. The Pacific Dream can carry up to 1900 passengers and in addition to a variety of dining options, the cruise ship offers a casino, a disco, theme parties, karaoke and activities for children and teens."
Pullmantur is cleverly marketing the cruise to Mexican citizens by pointing out that since the cruise takes place entirely in Mexican waters, they will not have to obtain a passport and U.S. visa, or travel to a U.S. departure port such as Miami or San Diego to enjoy a luxury cruise.
The cruise will cost upwards of $9800 pesos per person, say its promoters. The full schedule is not yet available, but check the Pullmantur website for updates at PullmanturCruises.com. |
