“That is what we are doing now and we will not let our guard down on this issue," said the President in Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, Jalisco, as he led the launching of the Mexicana Link airline and inaugurated the Mexicana Maintenance base in this municipality, which will produce 700 direct jobs and approximately 3,000 indirect ones.
He said that “Mexico is a nation that has everything it needs to pull through," adding that the country does not give up in the face of problems. A propos of this, President Calderón added:
“I know that Mexicans can turn challenges into opportunities. This is the task we have ahead, this is the task in which the Mexican government is engaged, and in which it will not cease its efforts. Mexico does not give up in the face of problems. The key to the life of a country or a person or a firm is not the absence of problems, which would be absurd. The key is to have the courage, determination and strength to face and overcome them."
The President declared that with the investment and confidence of the private sector, such as the investment and confidence of Mexicana, challenges will turn into opportunities. “Mexicana Link is the expression of a challenge that has become an opportunity. I am sure that it will be an opportunity for the firm to profit," he added.
On the subject of the routes to be covered by the new Mexicana airline, President Calderón said that they will not only be beneficial for the company but also for users in general such as executives from firms in Jalisco who have to conduct activities in Mexico but do not necessarily have to go to Mexico City. Once it begins operating, the airline will boost tourism to destinations such as Puerto Vallarta and facilitate the economic activities of businessmen in business-oriented cities such as Guadalajara and Monterrey.
Lastly, the President declared that Mexico has the character, courage and resources not only to face its problems, however serious, but to overcome them, as they will surely overcome the problems currently facing Mexico.
He also recalled that one of the aims of his government is to make this the infrastructure administration. He added that major hydraulic and airport projects are being promoted, with public-private investment of nearly $600 billion pesos for 2009. |
