Mexico City - At approximately 21:00 yesterday, Health Secretary José Ángel Córdova gave a press conference at the Health Secretariat to report on advances in the swine flu case in Mexico.
The Health Secretary reported that there has been a tendency towards a “progressive reduction" in the number of patients admitted to hospitals.
Secretary Córdova said that of the 159 deaths from serious atypical pneumonia or serious respiratory insufficiency possibly associated with flu, seven have been confirmed as having been due to swine flu.
He pointed out that the Federal District has experienced the largest number of deaths, followed by Mexico State and then San Luis Potosí.
Lastly, the Health Secretary said that clinical samples of patients suspected of flu are being examined. Over the next 24 hours, information will be available on another 150 cases, which will continue to be analyzed, in Mexican laboratories and with the cooperation of the US disease center and the Canadian Health Ministry. |
