"This Agreement joins the measures adopted to overcome the challenges of the economic conjuncture."
- President Calderón
Mexico City - In order for workers and businessmen to improve their productivity at their work centers, President Felipe Calderón witnessed the signing of the National Labor Productivity Agreement, achieved through the combination of efforts by the workers' movement, the business sector and Federal Government to overcome the challenges of the country's current economic and health situation.

“This agreement is another firm step towards promoting a new culture of work and productivity that will encourage the growth of the country, create better investment decisions and therefore create more and increasingly well-paid jobs," he added.

At the Explanada Francisco I. Madero de los Pinos, the President said that as part of this agreement, the Productivity Support Program will be set in train, which will benefit over 105,000 workers by providing specific training and offer small and medium businessmen technical advice with specialists in the sector who will visit their firms to provide the necessary tools to strengthen them.

The labor and business sector will also have the Labor Productivity Portal: www.productividad.org.mx, as well as the following telephone number 01 800 733 23 33, through which they will be able to orient workers and employers on productivity issues.

Accompanied by Labor Secretary Javier Lozano Alarcón, the Mexican President said that the Labor Productivity Agreement signed today will not only boost the economy's competitiveness but also protect the productive sector, and improve firms’ sustainability and workers’ living standards.

“Because a country with more productive workers and firms is a country with a greater capacity to overcome economic adversity and give its inhabitants more opportunities for income and well-being," admitted President Calderón, inviting workers and businessmen to work hard for Mexico and to continue seeking the path of harmony and unity.

Addressing an audience of workers' and business organizations, the President said that since the start of his administration, he has promoted profound transformations of the economy to make it more competitive and attractive for investment.

Among these, he highlighted the reforms approved in tax, energy, pensions and security issue and the boost to the infrastructure program and the fight Federal Government has undertaken against crime, organized crime and impunity.

“I am sure the National Productivity Agreement will ensure that our economy’s competitiveness continues to improve.”
