“We have also united to deal with organized crime, we are coping with economic adversity and the health crisis, which prove the strength of Mexico and Mexicans."
On a tour of the state of Nuevo León, the President said that however serious the challenges they have to face, people can rest assured that, "We will not rest until we have overcome them."
Accompanied by State Governor, José Natividad González Parás; and Secretaries of Energy, Georgina Kessel Martínez, and the Economy, Gerardo Ruiz Mateos, the President said that Federal Government is working to defend Mexicans’ economy. Proof of this is the announcement of the 10% discount for natural gas users, to be made retroactive to April, equivalent to over 400 million pesos, which will benefit over 1,300,000 families.
He said that this support joins the actions implemented by Federal Government as part of the National Agreement for the Family Economy and Employment, such as the discount on LP gas, the freezing of gasoline prices in 2009, the Program to Replace Electrical Appliances, the expansion of the Temporary Employment Program and the Job Preservation Program.
“Federal Government will continue working to defend families' economies, protect employment, strengthen the domestic market and attract investment in both Nuevo León and throughout the rest of the country."
During the inauguration of the Monterrey Multichannel Distribution of The Home Depot, in the municipality of Ciénaga de Flores, President Felipe Calderón stressed that investment is the only way to create jobs in the country.
Addressing the firm's workers and executives, the President said that $65 million USD were invested in this center which will created nearly 500 direct jobs and nearly 1,500 indirect jobs for the benefit of the inhabitants of the region.
He said that this investment by The Home Depot comes at a crucial time for Mexico and proves investors' faith in the country.
“I think that it is only like this, with effort and work, that we will be able to pull through as persons. We will be able to pull through as families and as a country,” he said. |
