USA and Mexico in Pole Position for Dubai - Day 3 BeachSoccer.com go to original June 19, 2009
| Rosales celebrates one of his goals with the home crowd in Puerto Vallarta (BSWW/David Diaz) | | A five-star performance by pocket striker Morales led the USA to a 6-1 win against Costa Rica and top spot in Group B. The Americans' arguments were far too much for Los Ticos, who, despite today's loss are still in the running to clinch a berth for the global showpiece as they were already qualified for the semis after yesterday’s victory over Bahamas.
“This is a great result for us. Our first aim was to finish as first in our group to try to avoid Mexico in the semi finals. Now we can totally focus on tomorrow’s game, hoping our opponent will be El Salvador to get another chance to show that we’ve improved and deserve to go to the World Cup”, said Morales after the US victory.
El Tri completed the semifinals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier CONCACAF Puerto Vallarta after defeating El Salvador 4-1. Ramon Raya’s pupils looked very concentrated throughout the game and didn’t let any complications come onto the scene. Mexico finds them in pole position for Dubai as they face a theoretically weaker Costa Rica side for a spot in the final tomorrow.
