Mexico City - Mexico's peso and stocks gained in early trade on Thursday, after new U.S. economic data showed hints of improvement.
The peso MEX01 gained 0.31 percent to 13.306 per U.S. dollar while the IPC stock index .MXX rose 0.27 percent to 24,710
A weekly report on Thursday showed initial U.S. jobless claims fell for the first time since January, raising hopes of a recovery in economy of the United States, Mexico's main trading partner.
Shares of drinks company Femsa (FMSAUBD.MX) rose 0.84 percent to 45.78 pesos.
