In Aguascalientes, President inaugurates 73rd Ordinary General Assembly of National Confederation of Livestock Organizations.
Aguascalientes - President Felipe Calderón declared that it is time to construct the future, as a result of which he urged Mexicans, regardless of their ideological or political affiliation, to join them in carrying out the changes required by the country.

“Mexico needs us to overlook differences, conjunctures and government cycles. Coinciding is a privilege of intelligence and reason," he declared.

On tour of Aguascalientes, during the Inauguration of the 73rd Ordinary General Assembly of the National Confederation of Livestock Organizations, the Federal Executive repeated his willingness to engage in discussion with the legislators that will comprise the new Chamber of Deputies, adding that now is the time for understanding and closing ranks to guarantee the security and tranquility of families and for the rule of law to prevail.

“I know that with the new popular representatives, we will be able to dialogue and reach the necessary agreements for defining an agenda of priorities that will promote the transformation of the country," he added.

Accompanied by State Governor Armando Reynoso and Governor of Durango, Ismael Hernández as well as Secretary of Agriculture, Alberto Cárdenas, the President said that the unity Mexico requires is to deal with the country's real enemies. That explains Federal Government's firm commitment to security, without neglecting priorities such as development with justice and economic recovery.

“We will not give criminals any respite, insisted President Calderón, adding that the attacks suffered by Mexican state forces in states such as Michoacán, Guanajuato and Guerrero are the desperate reactions of organized crime to the actions his administration has carried out.

"It is a desperate, violent reaction to the firm, determined action of these organizations, which reflects a key strategy: guaranteeing legality, security and people's rights," he said.

Addressing members of the country's cattle ranchers' community, President Felipe Calderón said that this sector shares the conviction that dialogue, understanding and agreement are crucial to consolidating the competitive economy and livestock sector that the countryside and Mexicans need.

He told the cattle ranchers that they have an ally in the President. Proof of this is the investment his government has assigned to this sector of the economy, such as the over $30 billion pesos allocated for the modernization, capitalization and productivity of livestock. PROGAN has invested over 12 billion pesos in nearly 650,000 producers, while support has also been provided for 70,000 infrastructure and equipment projects, which have triggered investment of nearly $20 billion pesos.

“Federal Government will continue betting on Mexico's cattle ranchers," he said.

He also recalled the 150th anniversary of the Liberal Reform declared by President Benito Juárez on July 12 1859.
