WHO Director Dr. Margaret Chan, hails President Calderón's leadership during virus outbreak.
Cancún - The World Health Organization (WHO) president said that Mexico is a beautiful, reliable, safe place to visit, after the health emergency it experienced in April.

Margaret Chang, the director of the organization, attended the Top Level Meeting on “Lessons Learned from AH1N1 Flu,” at which she declared that there is no reason not to visit Mexico, because this will neither stop nor prevent the outbreak.

“We are in Phase 6 of the pandemic,” she recalled, meaning that the virus is present in over 100 countries.

Addressing the Health Secretaries of Mexico, Canada and the United States, as well as President Calderón, Chang hailed the work of the Mexican authorities, who provided early notice of the situation.

This pandemic, said the WHO president, “Will be moderately severe in the early days and affect the situation temporarily, for example, due to the closing of schools.”

The WHO president said that there is no point in being alarmist.
