Country Artist Chris Young to Entertain at Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser

Puerto Vallarta - Country recording artist Chris Young will lend a hand for cystic fibrosis at Hook the Cure, presented by BJ's Restaurants and IOTEC, this November in Puerto Vallarta.
With an ear toward the past and an eye on the future, Young is quickly distinguishing himself as a newcomer who honors country music's best traditions while adding a fresh new chapter to the genre's legacy. His self-titled RCA Records debut project made him country's best-selling new male artist of 2006 and earned him a nod in the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist category.
Young recently won the national talent search, Nashville Star, the longest-running cable reality competition, hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus, which recently moved to NBC this year. Young's appearance is sponsored by LA radio station, Go Country 105 FM.
Hook the Cure, slated for November 5-8, is an IGFA-qualifying event and an official event of the Redbone Tournament Series. The event - now in its fourth year - features fishing tournament entry, superior all-inclusive accommodations, a pre-tournament Mayor's VIP Receptionat Villa Premiere Hotel and Spa, live entertainment by Chris Young and Los Bambinos; golf at Vista Vallarta's challenging Nicklaus course; a lively Charter Dreams dockside weigh-in party with food and beverage provided by Andale Restaurant and Sol; relaxing spa packages for the spouses; and an awards gala and auction sponsored by American Airlines and hosted by Los Angeles radio personality Shawn Parr.
According to Bob Huston and Jeff Jennison, 2008 event chairmen, $1 million NET was generated for cystic fibrosis patient care, research and patient education since the tournaments inception just three years ago.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting approximately 40,000 people in the United States and Mexico. When the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was established in 1955, few children lived to even attend elementary school. Today, because of research and care supported by the CF Foundation with money raised through donations from families, corporations and foundations, the median predicted age for people with CF is nearly 37 years.
