Chicago native Chris Geib took first place in the Marina Riviera Nayarit 3rd Annual Marlin & Tuna Fishing Tournament.
After three years of "close but no cigar," Chicago native Chris Geib took first place in the 3rd Annual Riviera Nayarit Marlin & Tuna Fishing Tournament, which took place at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle from August 13-15, 2009.

Using live bait, Geib took an hour and a half to reel in the 182.7 kilo (403 lbs.) Marlin, snagged at La Corbeteña, about 30 miles out from the marina. Geib won both first and third place in the Marlin Division.

Geib won 3rd place (2007), and 2nd place (2008) in previous tournaments. Geib's boat is a 35 foot Cabo christened Animal House. Asked if he plans to come back again next year, Geib said, "Absolutely. There's always another river." And plenty of Pacific Ocean to stalk his next big catch.

The 3rd Annual Riviera Nayarit Marlin & Tuna Fishing Tournament was covered live by SF Productions. Stay tuned to BanderasNews for video coverage of this exciting event and more incredible footage of Vallarta Sport Fishing on SF Productions TV's new online fishing show, Vallarta's Fishing Experience.
