Viva Mexico, Viva Kaiser Maximilian! Laura Gelezunas - Video Diva Productions September 06, 2009
The staff at restaurant, Kaiser Maximiliam, is all fired up for Mexican Independence Day, 15 September, and will celebrate all month long with a special dinner menu featuring traditional favorites with an elegant and modern spin.
The colors of the flag are represented in the starter, chile en nogada. It is a poblano pepper stuffed with beef, dried fruits and walnuts, topped with a cream sauce and pomegranate seeds. It is served cold with additional sliced fruits.
A perfectly blended, rich cream of pablano soup is ladled over fresh corn and cheese is another great way to begin your meal.
The sizzling celebration continues with sautéed shrimp and bay scallops simmered in a creamy chipotle chile sauce nestled in a floor tortilla, accompanied by a gently tossed cactus salad.
The hearty main course stars grilled beef tenderloin spooned over with a papaya and chile guajillo sauce, this served along with a grilled shrimp, pepper, onion and tomato skewer, which sits on a twice baked potato stuffed with chile and cheese.
You must leave room for dessert. Banana flambé, fruit and bread pudding plus homemade vanilla ice cream. More than enough to share.
Enjoy the robust flavors of Mexico at Kaiser Maximilian in Puerto Vallarta until the end of September.
Sit down to a great meal in the air-conditioned dining room as well as at the "very European" sidewalk tables.
