A BanderasNews Brief & Upcoming Events Mike A. Arevalo - PVNN October 03, 2009
There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. So we've put together a brief overview of some of this week's news headlines from local Spanish language publications, and added some upcoming events you won't want to miss.
Alaskan Airlines Anticipates Banner High Season
It is official, the economic crisis will not affect Puerto Vallarta's high season this year. Antonio Alvarado Rubio (Alaskan Airlines’ manager in PV) let it be known that starting November 8th Alaskan Airlines flights will be booked to capacity and will have up to 24 flights arriving in Puerto Vallarta each week.
Alaskan Airlines will continue to provide daily non-stop flights to Puerto Vallarta departing out of Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles among others. The airline has not completely felt the effects of the "crisis," they have kept an average of 85% occupancy even though they are eager to start off the high season with occupancy at 100%.
Velas Vallarta Hosts International Gastronomic Seminar
From October 5th to the 7th, Velas Vallarta will host "El Seminario Gastronomico Internacional: Como impulsar su negocio en tiempos crisis," which is a seminar designated for business owners and is meant to help them overcome the economic crisis in Vallarta.
With events such as this one, Puerto Vallarta has permanently marked itself on the map as a gourmet destination in our country. Event organizers are expecting around 100 people from all over the country to attend.
Ave. Los Poetas to be Constructed in El Pitillal
Puerto Vallarta Mayor Javier Bravo keeps on improving the city. Since his election day, Mayor Bravo has been keeping up a campaign to better Puerto Vallarta streets. This time he is doing just that with the construction of a new avenue, Avenida Los Poetas, which will benefit around 60 thousand people, especially those living in the El Pitillal area.
This approximately 5 km avenue will stretch across El Pitillal. In his ongoing effort to make PV a better place for locals and tourists alike, Mayor Bravo will continue with new projects like this one for the remainder of his term.
