Mexico Banking Commission Approves Walmex’s Store-Based Banks Emily Schmall - Bloomberg go to original October 13, 2009
Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB, Latin America’s largest retailer, received approval to offer banking services in its stores.
Mexico’s national banking commission authorized the first stage of the operation, which includes 29 banking units in Mexico City’s metropolitan area.
By the end of 2009, Walmex will operate 1,356 banking units nationwide within its stores, an emailed statement from the banking agency said.
