| President Calderón attends the 16th Congress of Mexican Foreign Trade. | | Municipio de Santiago de Querétaro - Friday, as part of a working tour of the state of Querétaro, President Calderón attended the 16th Congress of Mexican Foreign Trade.
The Mexican Business Council of Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE) was created in the 1960s as the Mexican Council of International Affairs (CEMAI). In 1999, it merged with the National Council of Foreign Trade (CONACEX) to form COMCE. The Council is an initiative of the leading members of the Mexican private sector to create an organization dedicated to the promotion of foreign trade, foreign investment and technological development.
It is currently represented in 26 states throughout the country through state and regional COMCEs, comprising leading local businessmen seeking to support the development of foreign trade and foreign investment in their respective states.
COMCE supports and promotes firms to enable them to establish sustainable development policies and implement measures that will permit the minimization of external impacts, cost reduction, internal reinforcement and their expansion into international markets.
It also promotes a broad network of Agreements Mexico has signed with 42 countries through the Mexican export sector to take advantage of competitive advantages and diversify exports to new markets.
COMCE is scheduled to organize the 16th Congress of Mexican Foreign Trade which includes Expo COMCE under the slogan of "Exports at the Engine of Growth." Topics that will be dealt with include the crisis that changed the world; the current status of the world economy; government support for exports; strategic horizons, areas of opportunity, and changes derived from the crisis, among others.
In this respect, Federal Government supports initiatives that will promote foreign trade, regional growth and job creation. It also confirmed its commitment to implementing public policies that will trigger competitiveness and productive investments, within the framework of sustainable development.
