In order to arouse interest among local film buffs, Villa Balboa, located along Puerto Vallarta's scenic South Shore highway, is opening its doors to the public by offering an ongoing film series. Villa Balboa is the only private residence in Banderas Bay that features its own screening room.

Villa Balboa's Ivonne Miller Theater was designed with cinephiles in mind, featuring state-of-the-art audio and video equipment. "We are hoping to create a unique, cultural experience where Puerto Vallarta locals can mingle and enjoy carefully-selected films in a VIP setting," commented Krystal Frost, who manages the residence.

Moviegoers can order gourmet sandwiches and other items specially created by Villa Balboa's private house chef, along with a choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Once the film begins, your order is delivered to your seat, a luxurious experience not available anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta.

"The movie theater holds a bit of Puerto Vallarta history," Frost added. "When Puerto Vallarta's legendary Cine Bahía movie theater closed its doors, the owners of Villa Balboa wasted no time purchasing some of the seats from the theater, re-upholstering them, and putting them to good use.

To launch the film series, Movies at Villa Balboa is focusing on food, suitably coinciding with the upcoming International Festival Gourmet. Four "foodie" films have been pre-selected: Big Night (1966), Chocolat (2000), Mostly Martha (2001) and Tortilla Soup (2001).

Visit the Events at Villa Balboa blog to learn more about each film and vote for the film you would most like to watch. The film that receives most votes will be screened on Friday, November 20, at 7 pm.

Movies at Villa Balboa are by invitation only, and limited to the first 25 people who RSVP. For more information and to be added to the Movies at Villa Balboa guest list, please visit villabalboa.wordpress.com.
