Essential to Continue Fight Against Crime: President Felipe Calderón Suzanne Stephens Waller - Presidencia de la República go to original November 24, 2009
| In Tampico, the President led Commemoration of Navy Day and Launching of Ocean Patrol Boat Arm Revolución (PO-164) | | Tamaulipas - President Felipe Calderón declared that it is essential to continue dealing with crime with a firm hand to continue protecting citizens. He urged local authorities to join this effort and to redouble their commitment to and actions to ensure public security.
“As I have said before and I say again today, combating organized crime, including drug trafficking, is a step towards achieving our true goal: constructing a Mexico of laws and institutions, a country of order and freedom in which citizens can live safely and calmly, as they should," he declared.
On a tour of Tamaulipas, in the municipality of Tampico, the President said that the Mexican state will continue to use all the legal means available to establish the conditions of order and legality that must prevail to ensure health social existence.
During the event, the President evoked Francisco I. Madero, who, he said, urged Mexicans to fight to ensure our freedom and consolidate the peace of free peoples, who enjoy the support of the law. He said that the words of the Apostle of Democracy continue to be valid today, which is why all Mexicans must make their greatest effort to consolidate a country of laws in which the rights and freedoms of all Mexicans are respected.
During the commemoration of Navy Day and the Launching of the ARM Revolución (PO-164) Ocean Patrol Boat, President Felipe Calderón urged members of the Mexican Navy to fulfill the delicate mission with which the country has entrusted them: safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and homeland security.
“In this task, Mexico has you, men and women motivated by the love of their country. I urge you to continue fulfilling your mission with the commitment, responsibility, discipline and loyalty that has always distinguished you,” he said.
