New Appointments by President Calderón to Come into Effect as of January 1, 2010 Suzanne Stephens Waller - Presidencia de la República go to original December 26, 2009
The Presidency reported that Mexican President Felipe Calderón appointed Luis Héctor Álvarez Álvarez Advisor to Vulnerable Groups and Xavier Abreu Sierra as Director General of the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples.
The Office for Vulnerable Groups will be responsible for following up the care of vulnerable groups within the Presidency’s Federal Network of Services to Citizens, Non-Government Organizations and public opinion on issues concerning indigenous communities and poverty and advise on the design of special poverty and social development problems, among others.
The President also appointed Juan Miguel Alcántara Soria Executive Secretary of the National System of Public Security, who will be attached to the Interior Secretariat.
These appointments will be effective as of January 1, 2010.
Lastly, Jorge Tello Peón will continue as Technical Secretary of the Security Cabinet and Technical Secretary of the National Security Council, attached to the Presidency.
