In the 4 1/2 years that the Puerto Vallarta Zoo has been open to the public, it has been recognized as one of Mexico's top zoos due to its extraordinary success in the reproduction of animals, many of them in danger of extinction, such as jaguars, Bengal tigers, African lions, and the Caribbean Flamingo among others species.
Zoologico de Vallarta owners, Martin, Antonio and Alfredo Castañeda, have deep ecological concerns and devote themselves entirely to the preservation of all animal species. They believe that providing the animals with excellent care and a safe environment encourages them to reproduce in captivity.
Due to the success of their reproduction in captivity program, and the Vallarta Zoo's unique visitor-feline interaction program, Zoologico de Vallarta has grabbed the attention of international zoological institutions, whose veterinary doctors and personnel are interested in introducing this program in their recreational parks in order to increase their number of visitors each year.
 El Zoológico de la Aurora en Guatemala and el Zoológico Regional de Nuevo Laredo are among the zoos that have already sent their people to be trained at the Puerto Vallarta Zoo. In fact, veterinary doctor and zoo technician (Zootecnista) Carlos Marcelo Gamboa Fentanes and biologist Virginio Vázquez Rodriguez of the Zoológico Regional de Nuevo Laredo are presently spending a few days in Puerto Vallarta for this training.

Zoológico de Vallarta Acapara la Atención de Distintas Instituciones Zoológicas Internacionales

Zoológico de Vallarta en los 4.5 años que tiene abierto al publico a logrado posicionarse como uno de los zoológicos con mas reproducción de animales en el país muchos de ellos en peligro de extinción como es el caso de el jaguar, el tigre de bengala, el león africano, y el flamenco caribeño entre otras especies.
Debido a esto y por manejar un programa muy peculiar de interacción visitante-felino a acaparado la atención de distintas instituciones zoológicas internacionales y a comenzado a capacitar a médicos veterinarios y personal de estos zoológicos para que en poco tiempo también introduzcan este programa a sus parques recreativos y así lograr acaparar una demanda mas alta de visitantes.
Entre los zoológicos que han enviado a su gente a capacitación se encuentra el Zoológico de la Aurora en Guatemala y el Zoológico Regional de Nuevo Laredo, actualmente se esta en platicas con otros mas para empezar dicha instrucción.
El médico veterinario zootecnista Carlos Marcelo Gamboa Fentanes y El biólogo Virginio Vázquez Rodríguez del zoológico Regional de Nuevo Laredo se encuentran pasando unos días en el puerto de vallarta tomando dicha capacitación.
