Tae Muay Gym owner and Master Jesus Gonzalez announced at a press conference held at the Crown Casino yesterday a mixed martial arts fight card that will be held at the Collage Club at the Marina. Mark the date for Friday, April 9th and it will begin at 8:00 PM. This will be fought in a six sided cage and is the same style as the popular UFC fighting that has been captivating fight fans around the world.

Tae Muay Gym's Jesus Gonzalez announcing the Mixed Martial Arts card at the press conference Tuesday.
There will be five professional fights and the card will open with nine amateur bouts. All but two of the fights will be MMA; the other two will be Muay Thai in the amateur bouts. Three Puerto Vallarta gyms will be represented and fighters will be traveling from other cities as well. Four different gyms from Guadalajara will make the trip and one gym from Tepic, Nayarit will be here. Two fighters, both professional will make a long trip from Aguascalientes and one fighter will be coming from La Piedad, Michoacan.

The main event will feature Alejandro El "Diablito" Perez from Aguascalientes against Jorge Lenin from Michoacan in the 70 Kilo division. The undercard top fight will pit Jorge "Warman" Martinez of Guadalajara against Espenser from Aguascalientes in a 63 Kilo bout. The first three professional bouts will have fighters from Tae Muay Gym facing two other Puerto Vallarta fighters and another from Guadalajara.

There is a distinct difference between the professional and amateur fights. Amateurs will wear protective headgear and use heavier gloves (16 ounces). The professionals will wear no headgear and their gloves are cut of at the fingers and almost non-existent at just 6 ounces. A heavier glove makes for a softer hit, a pillow type effect, however all punches that connect will be felt. The amateur fights will be three, two minute rounds and the pro fights will be a grueling five, three minute rounds.

Ticket prices are $180 pesos in advance and $250 pesos at the door. One can purchase tickets at Sushi Express in Plaza Caracol or at the Tae Muay Gym, which is located across the street from the gym at the City Sports complex. For more information, call Jesus at his landline 223-2566 or cell phone 044-322-228-9599. There will also be a bikini exhibition to add to the excitement and prizes and surprises are also promised. Don't miss the action and join an expected full house at the Collage for the MMA fights.
