April 06, 2010

To be a true revolutionist, you must have love; love for the people.
- Che Guevara
LatinLife.com will proudly serve as the newest Latino website for the San Francisco Bay Area. It will primarily be an English-language website, with sprinkles of trendy Spanglish added for spice. In addition, many articles will the option to be read in 100% Spanish.

The last time the Bay Area experienced a Latino website was LatinBayArea.com. It no longer exists but it operated from 2000- 007. At one point it was the largest Latino website in the West Coast.

The goal and slogan of LatinLife.com is Empower, Entertain and Unite. 'We're lucky it appears alphabetical because it's how we see our priority' shares the new owner. 'First it's to empower, then to entertain, and hopefully to unite'. He explains each goal here:

• Empower: 'It's our engine, our driving force. We want to help improve the lives of Latinos. To understand why, see the published official statistics we have researched'. [click here] Entertainment: 'We'd like to see Latinos fully enjoy their lives [laugh, sing, dance, joke, relax]. Porque? We get one shot at life, so we must live this precious life to the best. Plus we want to have fun doing this website.'

• Unite: 'Let's face it. Latinos are not a united community. Jealousy and envy is the cancer of our culture. This is a tough reality to face, but we must acknowledge it if we are to unite. With so many Latino countries, from Mexico to Argentina plus the Caribbean, a beautiful global force will exist if these countries united, like brothers and sisters.'

The content types of LatinLife.com can be categorized in 3 formats: topics, blogs and social tools.

Topics will range from: this week's events, career and financial tips, to the latest news from entertainment, politics and Latin America. In total, 11 major topics will be covered.

Blogs will be used to cover sensitive and controversial subjects, some considered taboo. However its purpose is to create a flow of discussion; 1) subjects are first posted, then 2) users participate by sharing feedback via comments. Its ultimate goal; to create a real sense of community and unity.

In addition, LatinLife.com plans to offer editorial and user-generated content and social web tools to the public. This content will consist of Articles, Blogs, Events, Classifieds, Photo Albums, Polls, and User Profiles. The site will offer the ability for the public to register themselves.

In conclusion: 'We're glad you're able to see our soul; to know why we're doing this website, and what it may be about. We're hoping to launch soon - so porfavor - send us comments on what you'd like to see and how we can improve. Mil gracias.'
