Alexander: U.S. House Judiciary Committee Should Investigate Meg Whitman

Stewart A. Alexander for California Governor Peace and Freedom Party 2010
Last week, Wall Street was rocked by fraud charges that were filed against Goldman Sachs, the nation’s largest investment bank; now, California Governor Candidate Stewart Alexander is asking how deep was Meg Whitman’s involvement during the period when she served on the board of the financial giant.

Meg Whitman is the Republican front-runner in the California governor’s race, leading state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner by 25 points in recent poles. Meg Whitman has spent nearly $60 million of her own money buying television and radio ads reaching voters throughout California. Not until last year, Meg Whitman was virtually unknown to California voters and has relatively no political experience. Whitman has stated that if elected, she will run California like a business; however, some Californians are concerned, will this billionaire run California like the ‘Madoffs’ on Wall Street.

Stewart Alexander says “If we have a governor candidate that can buy her way into the governor’s office, Californians need to know if she can be trusted and if she will be working for Wall Street or for the people of California.” Alexander is calling on U.S. Congressman John Conyers, Jr., Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee to arrange immediate congressional hearings to determine the involvement of Meg Whitman and other Goldman Sachs board members regarding business activities that led to the criminal charges that were filed by the SEC against Goldman Sachs.

Alexander says Californians need to pause and examine Meg Whitman’s business dealing with Goldman Sachs considering the alleged fraud by Goldman Sachs occurred on Whitman’s watch with the investment bank; “Only Washington has the resources to launch an immediate investigation during the final months before the November Election.”

California has suffered the loss of billions of dollars due to past business dealings with Sachs. Goldman Sachs has also been responsible for the failure of economies, governments and has been a key player in the global economic meltdown. The government’s case against Goldman Sachs could take years to litigate and could cost U.S. taxpayers billions.

Stewart Alexander is calling on Steve Poizner to join his call to have the U.S. House of Representative to launch an immediate investigation of Meg Whitman and her involvement with Goldman Sachs.
