Duane 'Dog' Chapman at the Hawaii private premiere of 'Dog The Bounty Hunter', Season 3. Honolulu, Hawaii - 2006
This week, in 2003, bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman captured Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster who fled the United States in the middle of a trial for drugging, raping and videotaping women.

Luster, who lived off his family's trust, escaped to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he lived on the beach, surfing and partying.

With TV crew in tow, Chapman, captured Luster six months later. Luster was extradited to the United States.

But Mexican police arrested Chapman because bounty hunting is illegal there. Those charges were later dropped.

Chapman began his reality television show the next year.

Luster is serving 124 years in prison. Two victims have successfully sued Luster for a total of $39 million.
