Calderón Demands Punishment for Mexicans' Death on US Border Suzanne Stephens Waller - Presidencia de la República go to original June 12, 2010
| President Felipe Calderón (Presidencia de la República) | | Statement by President Felipe Calderón on regrettable events during which Mexican citizens Anastasio Hernández Rojas and Sergio Adrián Hernández lost their lives in San Diego, California and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua respectively.
The Mexican government is dismayed and indignant over the death of two Mexican citizens at the hands of the US Border Patrol.
One. Anastasio Hernández Rojas. Died after receiving several blows and electric shocks from Border Patrol officers on the border between the United States and Mexico between Tijuana and San Diego.
The second case is particularly serious since it involves a minor, Sergio Adrián Hernández, who was killed by gunshots in Mexico in Ciudad Juárez.
I demand that the US government conduct a thorough, impartial, objective investigation that will conclude with the clarification of events and the punishment of those responsible.
I am concerned about this emergence of violence against Mexicans, which is also associated with the emergence of other recent anti-immigrant and anti-Mexican expressions in the United States.
We also want objective criteria and reliable protocols regarding law enforcement to be established in the United States to prevent these unacceptable deaths, due, among other things, to the abusive use of force against Mexican migrants.
