| Sandwich makers in Mexico City say they've made the longest sandwich in Latin America for the seventh year in a row. (WYFF - Greenville) | | Mexico has broken own world record for the longest sandwich prepared in Latin America.
For the seventh consecutive year, organisers created a massive baguette - this year it measured 48 metres long.
Reuters reports thousand of pieces of bread, lettuce, onion and tomato were mixed with various types of sauces and more than 60 ingredients.
Venustiano Carranza District head Alejandro Pina says the torta building competition is aimed to help small businesses compete with large fast food chains.
'It's a platform where small businesses that prepare this meal are able to display it,' he said.
'People can try it and (businesses) are able to better compete against larger fast food chains such as the ones selling hamburgers, pizzas etc who have gained in strength. We want people to try this dish and see the great variety and diversity that exists out there.'
