Oscar Alberto Cabrera Wins Puerto Vallarta Photo Walk Contest Pamela Thompson - PVNN August 17, 2010
Worldwide Photo Walk. That sounds like one very long walk, doesn’t it?
Created by Scott Kelby, a photographer, designer and the award-winning author of more than 40 books, as well as the editor and publisher of Photoshop User and Layers Magazine, these photo walks began in 2008 when he began the "Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk."
Dates, times and meeting locations are announced in advance for each city. Avid amateur photographers meet and do the "walk," photographing highlights of the city. Photographs are then submitted and judged by a panel of professional photographers.
In 2009, these consisted of communal photo walks in 900 cities, and this year PV resident and amateur photographer Jim Pappas organized a "Worldwide Photo Walk" right here in Puerto Vallarta!
On July 25, 2010 local shutterbugs gathered in front of Starbucks on Puerto Vallarta's main plaza. Walking up Calle Zaragoza, down Miramar to Mina and left on the Malecón, heading north to the sand sculptures, then south ending at the bridge over the Rio Cuale, the photographers choose their "subjects" and took the shots.
Then, one photo per photographer was sent to the panel and the winner was chosen!
We are so proud of the winner – Oscar Alberto Cabrera! Albert is always there to take memorable photos of numerous local events, from cultural to birthday parties. We are all becoming a bit spoiled as we attend an event and then anxiously await the email from Albert containing photos that we have come to enjoy and expect!
Congratulations Oscar Alberto! Puerto Vallarta is very proud of you!
