| Edgar Morales and the 'El Castor Viajero' team program are planting a seed of environmental awareness with the children of San Blas. | | Riviera Nayarit is not only a tourist destination with privileged natural settings, but it also played an important part in Mexico's Independence. This is why The Centennials Tour of Radio Mil network was broadcast last September 21st from the Port of San Blas, offering its nationwide audience a look into the past, present and future of our destination.
The program offered a tour of our state's touristic offerings from San Blas to Nuevo Vallarta, including Rincon de Guayabitos, Los Ayala, Lo de Marcos, San Francisco, Sayulita, Punta de Mita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, and Bucerias.
The live program also described the work that is currently underway to have clean beaches, restaurants and hotels, and the efforts being made by the State Government led by Ney Gonzalez Sanchez, who is working together with the private sector to push the economy forward through tourism.
During the three-hour program, 'El Castor' talked with renowned experts and specialists on the history of Riviera Nayarit, and mainly of San Blas, which was crucial for the country during the Spanish colony, and also for Mexico's Independence.
Historians Pedro Luna and Pedro Lopez, former mayor of San Blas Rafael Gutierrez, archeologist Francisco Samaniega and ethnologist Eugini Porras guided the show host through an historical tour that will also promote cultural tourism amongst the audience, as the interview revealed many of the landmarks that can be visited in our destination.
Dr. Francisco del Villar, a renowned local naturalist, described the natural wonders that can be found in Riviera Nayarit, making it a favorite destination for bird and whale watchers, for those who want to participate in a turtle release program, for those who want to swim with whale sharks or to be amongst dozens of endemic reptiles, and in general, for everyone who wants to be in contact with a privileged natural environment.
The show presented the production team's opinions while they toured landmarks like La Contaduria and La Tovara. It also introduced the ample gastronomy that can be found in Riviera Nayarit and a number of activities that can be enjoyed.
Planting A Seed
After the show, Edgar Morales 'El Castor' visited the elementary school Fray Junipero Serra, and in a symbolic act together with the students, who represent the future of the area, planted the 'Bicentennial Tree.'
This year, Mexico celebrated the 200th anniversary of its Independence; planting this sleeping tree not only raised the students' ecological awareness, but they also pledged to take care of it so that in 200 years it will serve as a reminder for both our Independence and the commitment to preserve the privileged environment of San Blas.
