| Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla | | Mexico City - Thursday, President Felipe Calderón said the words that the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla said 200 years ago, according to Dolores resident Pedro García, a contemporay of the events, before the cry of Independence.
“The time has come for our emancipation, the hour of our freedom has rung and if you realize its great value, you will help me to defend it from the ambitious claw of tyrants," he said.
President Felipe Calderón conducted a working tour of the state of Guanajuato in order to perform the ceremony of the deed of the Independence of Mexico at 7 a.m. on 16 September, in which he repeated the historic call made two hundred years ago by Father Hidalgo from Dolores Hidalgo.
Prior to the Cry, the President signed the book of distinguished visitors of Hidalgo's Museum-House where the father of the nation lived 200 years ago.
During the event he was accompanied by Governor of Guanajuato, Juan Manuel Oliva; vice-president of the senate, Francisco Arroyo; President of the Chamber of Deputies, Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín; President of the Supreme Court, Guillermo Ortiz Mayagoitia; and Secretary of Education, Alonso Lujambio.
