Diego Fernandez de Cevallos, 69, who was a 1994 presidential candidate for President Felipe Calderon's National Action Party (PAN), disappeared near his ranch in central Mexico in May.
El Universal reported, citing unnamed sources close to the politician's family, that he would be freed in about 40 days. The report could not be immediately confirmed.
