(Muralcom)
Anguish, anxiety and panic permeated the air at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport on Thursday, when a Global Air charter was forced to make an emergency landing due to a failure of the Boeing 737-200's landing gear. When the front landing gear failed, Captain George Luz Campos expertly maneuvered the plane to land safely, saving the lives of all 99 passengers and five crew members on board flight 7038 from Mexico City.

Commendations have been made for the pilot's display of airmanship and the Puerto Vallarta International Airport's very professional rescue services.

Incoming flights were re-directed after the incident and the airport was closed for the afternoon. Departing passengers had to be rescheduled for the following day (some happy to stay another day in Vallarta) and were given voucher tickets for local hotels, including Paradise Village.

Alaska Airlines flights returned to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Other airlines were reported to land in Los Cabos and Mazatlan.
