| (Presidencia de la República) | | Mexico City - Monday, President Felipe Calderón led the announcement of the Embraco Investment in Mexico, held in the Manuel Ávila Camacho hall in the official Los Pinos residence.
It will build a new factory to product extremely efficient hermetic compressors and a technology center that will be located in Nuevo León and create 1000 direct jobs and approximately 500 indirect ones.
Embraco, a leading company in the hermetic compressor market, will invest $90 million USD in a factory and a technology center to be located in the state of Nuevo León.
Joao Carlos Costa Brega, Global Embraco President, said that these new installations will create 1,000 direct new jobs and approximately 500 indirect ones.
The factory will begin operating in the second half of 2011 and when it reaches its maximum capacity in 2013, it will be able to produce five million highly efficient hermetic compressors, 90% of whose components and raw materials will be provided by Mexican suppliers.
Embraco’s new installations will make Mexico a reliable investment destination. It will also enable state of the art technology to be transferred to Mexico and create highly specialized jobs and enable personnel to be trained at the firm’s other technology centers in Brazil, Asia and Europe. It will also develop a chain of national suppliers and promote alliances with higher education institutes.
Another of Embraco’s advantages for Mexico is that it is a highly innovate firm which spends at least 3% of its income on technology development and has over a thousand patents.
Embraco has a solid, growing market in the refrigeration industry.
