Gardener Electrocuted at Selva Romantica

December 15, 2010

Puerto Vallarta - We are all sad to lose a valued member of our Emiliano Zapata working community. Tomas had been working at the property, which is now Selva Romantica, even before it was built and was the gardener that always kept the property looking good. He had worked there for over seven years.

Everyone here at BanderasNews extends condolences to any family or friends reading this for their loss.
He started his day on Tuesday morning by saying "hola" to his fiend Aaron, who works at Casa Andrea, around 9:00 am on his way up the short hill from Olas Altas, on his way to work. They exchanged "how you doin's," in Spanish.

As part of his everyday work at the complex, Tomas climbed a ladder to reach a bougainvillea that needed a trim around 12:30 pm. He accidentally cut the shears through a power line of 13,600 volts and the power cut through his hands and ended up coming out of his feet - he was killed immediately.

There was a loud explosion and the power went out for only a moment.

The firemen responded immediately and there were no life signs.

He will be very greatly missed around the neighborhood with his always smiling face, after seeing him every day. He was only 49 years old and his friend Cheo from down the street says "he was my good buddy and will be missed... a lot."

Hopefully, this will create a statute for the power companies here in Vallarta, as in the US and Canada, where one power line cannot have enough voltage for this type of tragedy.
