Mexico City - National Security Spokesman Alejandro Poiré issued a press statement confirming that yesterday, federal forces killed Nazario Moreno, “El Chayo,” one of the founding leaders of the criminal organization, “La Familia Michoacana,” after several hours of confrontation.
At the official Los Pinos residence, the security spokesman said that operations in Michoacán are being maintained and reinforced by personnel from the Mexican Air Force, the Mexican Army, the Mexican Navy, Federal Police and the Navy Secretariat with air and land units.
He said that so far, preliminary figures have confirmed the deaths of eleven persons, five federal policemen, three criminals and three civilians. Another three criminals were arrested by the authorities.
