Banderas Bay's newest non-profit, Investours, is planning three tours in the upcoming weeks: one on the afternoon of January 20th and two on January 27th. If you are interested in participating, please visit Investours.org to sign up or contact Mexico Director Anna Ruman at the email anna(at)investours.org. Tours will continue into February on Thursday mornings and afternoons, so if you can't make it in January, plan ahead for the next month!
Founded in 2008, Investours works at the intersection of microfinance and socially responsible tourism by organizing authentic, life-changing, and socially responsible community tours called "investours." An investour allows participants, called "investourists," to improve the economic condition of hardworking, low-income Mexican families through micro-finance.
During the tour, investourists visit small communities, meet entrepreneurs, and listen to their business ideas. In the Bahía de Banderas region, these entrepreneurs are clients of ¡Sé Más! (Be More!), PEACE's microfinance lending program.
At the end of the tour, investourists decide which entrepreneur will receive an interest-free micro-loan, and 100% of the tour group's fees go to the entrepreneur of the investourists' choice. Afterwards, investour alumni can track the loan online.
This micro-loan will help improve the lives of the entrepreneur, her family, and her fellow community members. Therefore, investourists not only experience the cultural and economic diversity that defines the Bahía, but they do so while giving back to the neediest residents of this beautiful region!
