In coordination with city officials, the Puerto Vallarta Garden Club has started planting the new planter boxes erected on Basilio Badillo.
Since the street is bright, the city desired some shade, so each will have a Primavera tree (the trees with the beautiful yellow flowers, named for Spring) and two Bougainvilleas which we will train and secure with wires to poles placed in the planter's center. Four gorgeous Crown of Thorn bushes will fill in the bottom soil area.
We are all thrilled and looking forward to lots of water, fertilizer, trimming and then by November, they should be looking really good. Donors and sponsors number around 7 now with more considering. It is an investment in the beauty of Puerto Vallarta! Please consider sponsoring one. You may even line up a couple friends and sponsor as one.
Lary Peterson took a bunch of pictures, sized some down, and Rick Hepting has uploaded them to the club's website. Click HERE to check them out.
We will add more pictures as plants grow and bloom, sort of a life history of our major project, which is just in the starting throes! Next, we will be tackling the 23 planter boxes north of the river along Encino and Agustin Rodriguez. Sponsors and donors are being sought for them also.
Everyone is invited to get involved!
Please join the PV Garden by becoming a member or by sponsoring a planter box here on Basilio Badillo or in the Mercado area by the Rio Cuale.
Our group receives no public funding and relies solely on the generosity of folks who believe as we do: That the people of all great cities know the value of beautification to stimulate tourism and commerce and create a nicer place to live.
For more information on becoming a member of the PV Garden Club, or to sponsor a planter box please call Carlos Mendoza at (322) 223-6182.
