Back in March, a group of Puerto Vallarta residents and business owners came up with a plan to launch an international viral social media campaign to inspire past visitors to re-explore our great city by the sea and to welcome new friends to experience the magic we enjoy each day.

So they planned an event with a goal to attract more tourism while, at the same time, helping to combat the bad publicity Mexico is getting from the "other side" of the border - a Flash Mob choreographed by New York City dance studio owner Kim La Rue.

The first practice took place at Collage Club on April 3rd with Kim teaching 118 people who live, work in or visit our wonderful city, the intricate steps. The next Sunday, April 10th, two hundred and fifty people showed up to practice and show off their moves.

Puerto Vallarta's Flash Mob video will be filmed this Sunday, April 17th - and the energy is building! Organizers would like to have over 1000 people on hand, so please join in, this is for all of us. Even if you have not practiced the dance, you can still participate as part of the audience.

Instructions for Sunday April 17th, 2011 / Instrucciones para el Domingo 17 de Abril

• Have a good breakfast on Sunday. We need high energy and BIG SMILES throughout the day.

• We will be outside for over two hours so please bring your own water, juice and snacks.

• Please arrive to Lazaro Cardenas Park in Old Town (not the Malecón) at 1 pm sharp this Sunday.

• Just before 2 pm, we will walk to Los Arcos on the Malecón for “staging.”

• During the staging process, act like locals and visitors. This performance will be a surprise.

• At 2:35 pm, the music will start and the performance begins.

• Nacho Daddy (Basilio Badillo #180) has offered to open on their day off from 3-6 pm for a "wrap party." They will be offering $25 pesos drink specials (Beer, Margaritas and Sangria.)
