Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Stunning landscapes, delicious foods and warm welcomes cause visitors from all over the world to return to the Bahía de Banderas time and time again. PEACE Classic Vallarta Home Tours now promotes that pattern by allowing guests to view the beauty of the area through its architecture and homes, while giving back to local communities.
The volunteer-lead tour finished their first season with over 600 guests and more than a quarter million pesos on April 5, 2011.
"Considering how low tourism was this season and the fact that this was our first year, we are really pleased with how this turned out," said Vicky Mason, Home Tour Coordinator and Volunteer. "It was a ton of work, but we all had fun and made enough funds to start helping some people!"
Net proceeds are being used to expand current Nayarit PEACE programs to Puerto Vallarta including the creation of a children’s after school program and a community garden at Rivera Cuale Condominiums.
"We feel so appreciative of the countless hours the 20-person volunteer team dedicated to making the tour such a success," said Becci Burchett, Development Director at PEACE. "Their time commitment and enthusiasm for the project is truly inspiring."
