June 8, 2011

Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz announced that the Puerto Vallarta Malecón improvement project is moving faster than expected. Weekly project status meetings are ongoing.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The four month schedule for the new Malecón project in Puerto Vallarta is proceeding ahead of schedule with access to be restricted only during the first stage, which is scheduled to take only 2 months.

We are already more than 2 weeks into the project and that leaves potentially only 6-7 weeks more that the Malecón will have restricted access.

That is very good news for the many local people who miss their Malecón for daily walks, a place to socialize, or just sit on a bench and enjoy the view or read the paper, buy food from one of the vendors or so much more.

Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz announced that the Malecón improvement project is moving faster than expected, weekly meetings to report the status of the project are ongoing.

A campaign called "El Centro Has Life," has been launched with a goal to remind people that restaurants and businesses along the Malecón are still open and to attract people to the area.

The Mayor reported that on review of the past week’s work on the Malecón that the project is ahead of schedule. Work on the Jetty has started and all of the old concrete has been removed, according to Noticias Diario Digital.

Mayor Resendiz also confirmed that his office is working closely with businesses in the area and taking steps to minimize impact of the construction, including installation of temporary lighting, security and spraying down debris with water to diminish dust. He also reiterated that the Malecón project is being supervised by expert engineers, architects, and designers.
