Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The first two streets along Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón will begin welcoming foot traffic as of July 16th. The rest of the mesh will be removed once workers finish placing stones.
Seven out of the eight streets alongside Díaz Ordaz are half-way done. The stone will serve as the Puerto Vallarta Malecon’s new floor.
During a weekly meeting, Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador González Reséndiz assured downtown area businessmen and proprietors that the Malecón reconstruction project is moving along at a very good pace.
Throughout the meeting, the Mayor noted that West 8 advisors (the company hired to complete the Malecon’s finishing touches) were recently in town and will return next week to present the project’s finishes. He also informed the attendees of the plumbing and other water-related progress.
Victor Sayas, the project contractor, noted that the rainy season has not affected the project due to the fact that they had already factored in this natural climate shift. He also said the containment dam is being worked on now; the country’s best planners were brought in for this. Whilst here, they agreed to build the dam bigger and stronger than they had originally intended, keeping the area’s safety in mind.
González Reséndiz reminded those present that July 15th through August 15th are heavy tourism days for the national market, which is why the first two blocks (north to south) of the Malecón are intended to open July 16th. The remaining streets will be opened successively.
Lastly, the councilman told the proprietors that a better and more effective means of publicity for the downtown area’s many businesses is in the works.
