Puerto Vallarta was one of Mexico's featured destinations at the 2011 AARP Life@50+ Expo

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Thousands of American Association of Retired Persons members and their friends learned about all of the wonderful things that Puerto Vallarta has to offer at the 2011 AARP Life@50+ National Event and Expo, held in Los Angeles, California from September 22-24.

The American Association of Retired Persons is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with a membership that helps people age 50 and over improve their lives. Since 1958, AARP has been leading a revolution in the way people view and live life.

The 2011 AARP Life@50+ Expo included activities and entertainment as well as conference that focused on health and Medical Tourism, and a Trade Show that featured supplements for retirees ranging from medications and treatments to medical tourism and vacation destinations.

Among the Expo's highlighted Mexican destinations were Huatulco, Mazatlán, Cancún, Sonora, Hidalgo and, of course, Puerto Vallarta. Featured international destinations included Hawaii, Alaska, Japan, Thailand, Jordan, Aruba, Nicaragua, Cuba and Texas.

On the first day of the conference, in an effort to strengthen the overseas promotion of Mexico, the Mexican Ministry of Tourism presented "The Royal Tour," a PBS documentary that spotlights the cultural richness of the country.

The program emphasizes the importance of Mexican cuisine as well as the promotion of Mexico's cultural, adventure and Eco- tourism destinations. This presentation, along with the Expo's various events and trade show highlights, was broadcast nationally on the Univision Network.
