Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Mexican Navy says it has rescued two fisherman who spent Christmas week adrift in a small boat in the Pacific.
The two Mexican men had set sail from a village just north of the resort of Puerto Vallarta on December 21st and planned to return two days later, but their motor stopped working.
The Navy said Thursday it started searching on December 23rd, but didn't find the men until Wednesday, after one got a signal on his cell phone and called port authorities.
They had drifted about 120 miles (200 kms) south. The men said they survived by eating raw fish. They had missed Mexico's traditional Christmas dinner dish, salted cod. The Navy didn't say whether they asked for any after the rescue.
