Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In interviews with La Tribuna de la Bahia, tourists who frequently visit Puerto Vallarta say they find the new Malecón much more attractive and functional than the previous one, especially when it comes to pedestrians.
The tourists surveyed expressed their appreciation for the renovated space, which they described as "very nice," both in space and landscape design, and also because of the limitation of vehicular traffic which makes it much less noisy, safer and more enjoyable.
According to those surveyed, they felt that the space gained should not be given to businesses with concessions, that all the space should be left for pedestrians. In regard to street vendors, the tourists surveyed said they found it annoying to be continually approached by vendors offering their wares.
When asked if they would like some businesses, such as restaurants, to have tables outside or not, some visitors felt that this would detract from the walking space, but others liked the idea.
