Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Punta Mita must be feeling pretty special lately. Not only is it attracting a virtual glitterati of celebrities that come here to play, but it’s also been in the spotlight with the recent filming of Elysium here.
And just after Christmas, yet another Hollywood movie project was on the scene, scouting for locations to be used in a project scheduled to be filmed here in March, 2012.
The working title of the film is "I Brake for Gringos." It's a comedy about a spring break trip gone awry, in the style of The Hangover. Behind the project is Andy Boggeri, who ought to know a thing or two about the subject - he’s been successfully organizing student trips to the shores of Banderas Bay for over ten years as a part of his successful PV Events business. Andy is co-producer on this project, along with Producer Willie Kutner.
The Director is the acclaimed Fernando Lebriji, with cinematography handled by Gerardo Madrazo. Patricio Farrell is the Art Director, Luis Estrada is Location Director, and Alejandro de León is Location Supervisor.
Putting everything together is PV Events Manager, Rocio Gonzalez, with the support and assistance of Christian Gomez Laranca and the Puerto Vallarta Municipal government.
One key scene is expected to be filmed at Casa Aramara, in Ranchos Punta Mita. The ideal party place, this villa ought to be absolutely appropriate the scene! Casa Aramara has itself, welcomed a host of visiting celebs, including the recent visit in summer 2011 of the Kardashian family.
Best of luck to this new film project!
