Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Puerto Vallarta Men’s Chorus has extended their final audition deadline for this season three more weeks, until October 29, allowing even more local singers to join their maiden concert.
"We are very excited to begin rehearsing the repertoire for Alegría!, our December performance in Teatro Vallarta," commented artistic director Bob Bruneau, who has just returned to Puerto Vallarta after a summer-long series of meetings with male chorus artistic directors in Seattle, New York City, and Washington, D.C. "We are a tight community and look to each other for repertoire suggestions and overall organization development."
In Bruneau’s absence, members of the budding organization participated in a series of music theory and vocal coaching practice sessions with local singing coach, Sharon Baughman. "The ongoing musical training of our singers is extremely important to us," added Bruneau. "It represents a long-term investment that the Puerto Vallarta Men’s Chorus is more than happy to make in order to become another important musical and cultural ambassador for Puerto Vallarta."
Founded just a few months ago, the Puerto Vallarta Men’s Chorus strives to present beautiful, quality male choral music presented in both Spanish and English, by the gay Mexican and ex-pat communities to entertain, enlighten and unify audiences and members using the power of music. It is the first and only ensemble of its kind in Mexico and all of Latin America.
Singers interested in auditioning for the chorus are encouraged to visit pvmenschorus.org, and fill out an online form.
The Puerto Vallarta Men’s Chorus will present Alegría! a holiday concert, at Teatro Vallarta on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, featuring a wide variety of entertaining Christmas and Hanukkah repertoire, and special local and international guest stars.
