London, England - In a recent survey conducted by Travelbag, 1,000 Brits were asked to name a famous Mexican. A revolutionary, a cartoon character, a musician and a footballer were among the most popular. Here's the full top 10:

2. Speedy Gonzales – 7.6%
3. Carlos Slim - 7.5%
4. Javier Hernandez – 5.7%
5. Emiliano Zapata – 4.8%
6. Frida Kahlo – 2.5%
7. Sancho Panza – 1.4%
8. Salma Hayek – 1.3%
9. Sergio Perez – 1.3%
10. Carlos Santana – 1.2%

Pancho Villa stealing the top spot is unlikely to be much of a surprise for anyone. But what might surprise some is that Looney Tunes fictional favourite, Speedy Gonzalez was only 0.1% behind Villa in the survey, with phenomenally rich business mogul, Carlos Slim, falling just short of the second spot.

Manchester United fan favourite, Javier 'Chicarito' Hernandez has claimed a spot in the top 10 too.

As well as these answers, there were those who were clearly getting their wires crossed! We had some citing Che Guevara (Argentine) and Fidel Castro (Cuban) as famous Mexicans! We even had someone suggest Popeye the Sailor and Mickey Mouse as celebrities hailing from Mexico.
