Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In an effort to raise environmental awareness in Puerto Vallarta's children, the Director of Instituto Municipal de Atención a la Juventud (municipal youth programs), Oscar Daniel Zamora, and the Hotel Association have introduced 'Vallarta Limpia' (Clean Vallarta), a community campaign that encourages kids and teens to be involved in the cleaning and preservation of public spaces.
With the first effort scheduled to be held on March 28 from 8:00-11:00 am, Clean Vallarta aims to bring together dozens of volunteers to clean the beaches in the tourist zones from Marina Vallarta to Amapas, while strengthening community ties between young people, authorities, and entrepreneurs, in a scheme of social participation that facilitates inclusion, respect for our environment and public spaces, pride in our city, and civic responsibility.
The Puerto Vallarta Hotel Association will be providing all of the necessary tools for the cleanup, as well as food for those who participate in this community effort, which the municipal agency will coordinate. Both organizations urge all residents and visitors to help keep our beaches clean by placing trash in designated containers and by participating in the Clean Vallarta campaign.
The initiative will take place four times a year, and though aimed at our city's youth, everyone that appreciates the need of having a 'Clean Vallarta' is invited to participate. For more information, upcoming dates and cleanup locations, send an email to escucha(at)imajvallarta.com, or call (322) 225-5960.
