Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In search of the beauty who will be representing Puerto Vallarta at national and international events throughout the coming year, the municipal government has launched the call for participants in the 'Miss Vallarta 2014' contest. Contestants have until August 1st to enter this year's competition.
Organized by the municipality of Puerto Vallarta through the Public Relations Department, and sponsored in part by local businesses and organizations, the purpose of the pageant is to select 'the face of Puerto Vallarta,' to represent the natural beauty and attributes that have made our city and its people famous: joy, kindness, personality and intelligence. To be eligible for the contest, participants are required to show proof of birth, or a minimum of 3 year's residence, in the city of Puerto Vallarta; be a single student or graduate between 17 and 24 years of age that's at least 1.66 meters (5'4") tall; and be able to demonstrate, verbally, knowledge of the culture, values, and traditions of Puerto Vallarta.
To be considered for the election process, along with the inscription, participants must present postcard sized photographs of the face and entire body, as well as copies of their birth certificate and official identification.
Those selected will compete in the final beauty pageant, which will take place on September 14th at the Los Arcos Amphitheater on the Malecón. The event is traditionally held sometime between 7:00 and 8:00 pm.
The contest will consist of several stages, in which the contestants will compete in casual wear, swimsuits and evening gowns. The panel of judges will be composed of representatives of the city's cultural, educational and business sectors, who will assess the contestants on personality, grace, demeanor, physique and beauty, as well as knowledge of the municipality.
The winner will have the honor of being crowned by Miss Vallarta 2013, Andrea Citlally Curiel Rodríguez, who has been an exemplary representative of our city for the past year and encourages all of the young women in our city to participate in the search for Miss Vallarta 2014.
"For me, representing Puerto Vallarta for the past year has been very gratifying. I know that it is difficult to win the title because the competition is intense but, as the old saying goes, 'if you fight for your dreams, they will come true'," she said.
Those interested in participating in the Miss Vallarta 2014 contest may call the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government offices at (322) 226-8080 ext. 1282 for more information.
