Puerto Vallarta First Responders Get a 6 Percent Raise

September 5, 2014

Mayor Guerrero Martínez proved that his administration supports those who safeguard our community not only with his words, but through his actions - in the form of an across the board pay hike in October.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - At a recent meeting with the Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection department, Mayor Ramón Guerrero Martínez proved that his administration supports those who safeguard our community not only with words, but through action - in the form of an across the board pay hike of 6% in October.

In his continuing efforts to ensure that all members of the Fire Department, Civil Protection and Lifeguards are rewarded for keeping the community safe on a daily basis, over the course of his administration, Mayor Guerrero has thus far increased civil protection salaries by 30%, and hopes to take the pay raise up to 50% by next year.

In addition, the Mayor announced that all the members of the Fire Department, Civil Protection and Lifeguards are eligible to be part of the 'Casa Digna' program, which provides funds for secure housing and home improvements, and that their children will benefit from the city's "Advancing Students" program to ensure that they have the means to stay in school and receive a quality education.

Undoubtedly one of the meeting's most emotional moments was during roll call, when tribute was given to fire fighter Alain Lugo Beltrán and volunteer fire fighter Víctor Rojas, both of whom died in the line of duty.

During this commemoration, recognition and bonuses were given to members of the civil protection unit with the most seniority, and a bonus system that has been established as a work and commitment incentive for all public servants was announced. In addition, the second installment of uniforms was delivered, representing an investment of $232,000 mn.
